Charlamagne Tha God Encourages People To Vote So Their Voices Are Heard

Radio celebrity Charlamagne Tha God has been using his radio show and Instagram account to encourage everyone to register to vote. He says many people aren’t happy with the politicians in Washington D.C. but the only way to make a change is to register and then vote. That’s the only way to get your voice heard by them.

Before October 9th he was telling people in 15 states that they only had until that date to register for the upcoming November 6th election. These states are Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas.

Charlamagne Tha God is hoping for record numbers of people voting this midterm election. The number of people voting in 2016 was way too low as only 56% of eligible voters turned out and voted.

During that election cycle, he was the spokesperson for the “Respect My Vote” campaign that was hosted by The Hip Hop Caucus.

It is the disenfranchised and younger generation who are most likely to not vote. In addition to Charlamagne Tha God, Singer Taylor Swift has also encouraged people to get themselves registered to vote. After she said this the number of people getting registered spiked across the nation. It is younger voters, especially, who listened to her and took action. See This Page for additional information.

Charlamagne Tha God co-hosts “The Breakfast Club” along with Angela Yee and DJ Envy. He also is on MTV2 with his show, “Uncommon Sense With Charlamagne”. He discusses politics on both of these shows as well as a range of other issues.

His birth name is Lenard Larry McKelvey and he spent some time as a youth in jail. Charlamagne says he transformed his life after this brush with the law and started attending school to improve himself.
